Jennifer Lopez's Shocking 'The Voice' Announcement—We Definitely Didn’t See This One Coming

Could Jennifer Lopez be joining The Voice as a coach for its next season? If we are to believe the rumors doing the rounds, it’s looking like a very big possibility, although fans are currently speculating which of the NBC singing competition’s current coaches – Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and newbie Ariana Grande – might give up their seat to make way for the 52-year-old “On the Floor” hitmaker.

Although it was reported last year that Shelton could very well be leaving the show, reports are hinting that the 28-year-old “Positions” singer might actually be the one to leave after just one season, as she wasn’t as popular as producers thought she would be! (We know, we can’t believe it either! We definitely tuned in to see her performances and more importantly, her super-sexy outfits, and we know we weren’t the only ones, so we are so shocked by these ratings reports!)

"At the end of the day Ariana Grande didn’t bring in the ratings. She has more social media followers than all the other stars combined, yet her fans didn’t tune in," an insider told RadarOnline, also referencing the fact that the "Thank U, Next" singer didn’t have any acts in the finale.

"It is safe to say that Ariana won’t be back," the insider claimed. "Plus, Blake has indicated that it might be time for him to take a break as the show's only original mentor left. The show needs some major excitement. It needs to be shaken up, which no-one does better than J-Lo."

While we would be devastated to lose Ari, we can't deny that J-Lo would be an incredible replacement! The "Pa Ti" singer is no stranger to the singing competition, as she performed her latest single, "On My Way" (taken from her upcoming movie, Marry Me) in the live season 21 finale back in December. And apparently, there were a lot of talks behind the scenes before and after the performance, as producers allegedly tried to convince her to join the show full time.

"Everyone was excited when Jennifer Lopez was at the show. There have been a lot of big stars performing on The Voice, but there was something different about Jennifer's visit," a source told RadarOnline. "All the top execs and producers were on-set that day and after she finished filming there was a lot of closed-door meeting trying to convince her to join the show full-time." Wow! In an ideal world, The Voice would have five coaches – i.e., the current four, with J-Lo as the cherry on top! Who's with us?!
