Redesigned Mac mini with M1 Pro and M1 Max expected to be announced at this year’s spring special event
Apple could upgrade the Mac mini with M1 Pro and M1 Max chips at this year’s rumored spring special event, according to reliable leaker @dylandkt on Twitter who suggests the new machine could launch alongside a new iMac Pro that is currently on track for a spring reveal, although there are reportedly concerns with regards to production.
The new 2022 Mac mini is expected to get a full redesign, with leaker Jon Prosser suggesting last year that the new machine would feature a “plexiglass-like” top and aluminium enclosure, showing concepts that were said to have been made based on leaked schematics that offered a look at the new machine.
According to @dylandkt, Apple is working towards announcing a new iMac Pro at spring’s special event which is expected to replace the current 27-inch iMac with a full redesign inspired by the 24-inch iMac that launched last year, backing up a previous report by display analyst Ross Young.

Asides from the new Mac mini and iMac Pro, Apple’s spring special event is expected to see the launch of a new 5G iPhone SE and an updated iPad Air featuring 5G connectivity, the A15 Bionic chip from the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro, a 12-megapixel Ultra Wide front camera with Center Stage support and more.
No date has been confirmed for the spring event, but Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has said he expects the digital event to take place in either March or April.
