It's the peak of the NFL playoffs and the final four teams have been cemented for next week's NFL Conference Championships.
Dallas Cowboys' great and NFL legend, Michael Irvin, talked with CBS4 about the playoffs and his predictions for the big game on February 13.
Irvin holds several Dallas Cowboys franchise records.
He is a member of the NFL’s All Decade Team of the 1990s and a proud Cowboys super fan.
He said he empathizes with El Paso Dallas Cowboys fans after they were eliminated in the wildcard round this season.
“We should not be hurting and I say we because I am right in that group with them, and listen Amanda there is no better place than El Paso, when you talk about Cowboy love, I had an appearance there 8 months ago when I got there they were everywhere, they love the Dallas Cowboys in El Paso,” Irvin said.
Irvin said when it comes to what went wrong the answer lies within the key players themselves.
“We got to get this thing fixed. We got to take care of those penalties and in any playoff game the number one thing, Emmitt and I use to always talk about before we played was we have to show up because the stars have to show up. The Dallas Cowboys Stars did not show up in that playoff game and we will never win like that,” Irvin said.
He said despite the Dallas Cowboys disappointing performance, he is excited for some of the remaining talent on the field.
Irvin said, “I just recently on one of my shows put Devonte Adams and Aaron Rodgers combination on sacred ground, OK what I mean by that, I had that sacred ground represent held for only Joe Montana and Jerry Rice. I didn’t even put me and Troy on there so you know it is sacred ground but Aaron Rodgers on there and Devonte Adams, they deserve to be on that sacred ground.”
Despite his praises for Adams and Rodgers, Irvin said he predicts the Kansas City Chiefs will take the top spot in the big game next month.
