Your iPhone battery isn’t just suffering at the hands of social media apps like Facebook and TikTok or streaming apps like Netflix. There are a few cellular mistakes you could be making that are resulting in a less efficient phone. The good news is that the minute you uncover these errors, turning the tide couldn’t be easier. Tech Expert Anup Kayastha spoke to SHEFinds.com about two of the worst cellular mistakes you should stop making because they ruin your iPhone battery. Here’s what you need to know.

You’re not updating your apps to the latest version.

While it’s true that some apps are simply bigger battery hogs than others, running any old version of an app is an unnecessary drain on your device — one that takes seconds to remedy. “Newer Apps are better optimized, which means that they will drain less battery, even by a small percentage,” Kayastha says. “If you fail to update your phone apps on a regular basis, you are actually wasting some power all the time. It could be a few minutes a day, but if you have many apps on your phone, it adds up quickly.. The best thing to do is to allow automatic app updates.”

Cheap chargers may be practical if you’re trying to save money, but they can add up to greater costs in the long run because they aren’t good for your device. “The problem is that because they are not optimized for your phone, the voltage and amperage that goes to your battery is off-range,” Kayastha says. “It's damaging to your phone at best; at worst, it may be a fire hazard. Don't do it.”

Making these two small changes immediately may be just the thing you need to do to gain a more efficient phone that stands the test of time.
