Who Is the Next Host of 'Saturday Night Live'?

Saturday Night Live Season 47 continues next weekend with another big-name host and musical guest taking to the stage.

Former cast member Will Forte hosted the latest episode of SNL while Italian rock band and Eurovision Song Contest winners Måneskin made their debut. Next week Saturday Night Live shows off its versatility with a rather different actor succeeding Forte while a pop icon appears as musical guest.

Here's everything you need to know about Episode 12 of Season 47—next week's edition of Saturday Night Live on NBC.

Who Is Hosting Next Week's 'SNL'?

Four-time Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe is making his Saturday Night Live debut at the age of 66 on January 29.

The actor has just made a triumphant return to superhero movies, reprising his role as Norman Osborn, aka the Green Goblin, in Spider-Man: No Way Home. His other recent credits include Guillermo del Toro's Nightmare Alley, Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch and Paul Schrader's The Card Counter.

His next movie will be Robert Eggers' The Northman. Dafoe plays Heimir the Fool in the Norse epic, which is scheduled for release on April 22.

The actor's best-known films include Platoon and The Last Temptation of Christ in the 1980s as well as the more recent At Eternity's Gate and The Florida Project.

Who Is the Musical Guest on Next Week's 'SNL'?

Making her fifth appearance on Saturday Night Live, Katy Perry will perform in Studio 8H on January 29.

She has been musical guest three times, in episodes hosted by Amy Poehler, Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson, and also hosted the show in 2011.

Perry will likely perform her new track "When I'm Gone," a collaboration with Swedish DJ Alesso. Its video debuted on ESPN during the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship game on January 10.

Perry has yet to announce if the song will be part of an album, but SNL has often been used as a platform for musicians to announce new projects or unveil tracks.

Season 47 COVID-19 Issues

Although most Saturday Night Live episodes have gone smoothly during Season 47, the lingering threat of COVID-19 has caused production issues.

During Paul Rudd's Christmas show, the majority of the cast and crew had to be sent home because of a coronavirus outbreak.

Earlier in January, Bleachers replaced Roddy Ricch as musical guest when the rapper had to pull out because a member of his team had tested positive for COVID-19.

The next episode of Saturday Night Live airs on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET on January 29.
