Matt Duchene had two goals and an assist and the Nashville Predators defeated the visiting Detroit Red Wings 4-1 on Saturday.

Filip Forsberg added a goal and an assist as the Predators won their second straight after a four-game losing streak. Nick Cousins also scored for the Predators, who have won the last six meetings with the Red Wings. Juuse Saros made 28 saves.

Adam Erne scored for the Red Wings, who lost for the second time in as many nights. They lost at home to Dallas in overtime on Friday.

Alex Nedeljkovic recorded 21 saves for Detroit, which went 0-for-5 on the power play.

Duchene was whistling for a double minor when he struck Filip Hronek with a high stick late in the first period. Detroit was unable to cash in.

The Predators led 2-1 after two periods.

They nearly took the lead midway through the period, as Tanner Jeannot banged a shot off the goalpost. They soon broke through on their first power play of the game.

With Joe Veleno in the penalty box for an illegal check to the head, Cousins flicked a shot from the slot that knuckled past Nedeljkovic at 12:46 of the period. Philip Tomasino and Mattias Ekholm had the assists.

Nashville soon made it 2-0 when Forsberg slipped the puck to Duchene in front, who scored his 18th goal. Matt Tennyson was credited with the second assist.

Erne was whistled for hooking later in the period but it turned into a blessing in disguise for the Wings. After killing off the penalty, Tyler Bertuzzi fired a pass to Erne as he exited the penalty box. Erne then beat Saros on the stick side for his fourth goal. Marc Staal got the second assist.

Forsberg backhanded a rebound of a Tennyson shot at 10:44 of the third to give Nashville a 3-1 lead. Duchene had the second assist on Forsberg’s 20th goal.

Duchene scored an empty-netter for his 19th goal with 1:48 remaining.
