Family, friends, rally for justice for Olivia Passaretti

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE)- Hundreds of protestors gathered in Cranston on Saturday afternoon, calling for higher charges against the suspect in the Olivia Passaretti case.

The Passarretti family and many others gathered outside of the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office, asking him to consider upgrading Aramis Segura’s charges to murder.

Segura was the driver in the crash that killed Passaretti early on New Year’s Day, when he was driving drunk.

“That monster took off from the scene to run 8 miles and be picked up by his girlfriend who had already been to the scene and lied saying it wasn’t her boyfriends car so he could wait for the call and lay under her bed like the evil coward that he is,” said Janine Passaretti, Olivia’s mother.

Segura is facing the following four charges:

  • Leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death
  • Driving to endanger – resulting in death.
  • Obstruction of Justice
  • Operating on a suspended license.

“We need this judicial system to be changed and plead them to make the right decision and charge this evil monster with murder,” Janine continued.

Segura has been arrested more than a dozen times in the past, eight resulting in felony convictions.
