3 Titans who won’t be back after disappointing playoff exit

As the Tennessee Titans enter the offseason, they’ll need to examine some contracts and figure out who they can bring back and who they’ll need to say goodbye to.

The Tennessee Titans weren’t able to make it all that far in the playoffs. After snagging the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoff bracket and getting a nice bye week to start the postseason, the Titans were unable to generate much of an offense and were eliminated by a young Cincinnati Bengals team, losing 19-16.

Tennessee’s offense was once again limited as Ryan Tannehill didn’t exactly perform at a high level. Throwing three interceptions will definitely play a huge part in keeping a team from winning.

Now the Titans are moving on to the offseason and they’ll try to do some sort of roster adjustments to fix things moving forward. But unless the Titans are able to find someone willing to take on Tannehill’s massive contract, this team is going to have to make some tough decisions.

And given how much Tannehill is being paid and the way his contract is structured, it’s hard to imagine how many teams that would really be willing to entertain a possible trade with the Titans for their current starting quarterback.

So, expect the Titans to make some adjustments elsewhere on the roster.

Tennessee Titans: 3 players the Titans may need to move on from

Marcus Johnson, WR

It doesn’t seem likely that Marcus Johnson will be back with the Tennessee Titans next season. The 27-year-old wide receiver from League City, Texas was previously signed to a one-year deal where he ultimately made over $1 million, but he didn’t exactly grab a bunch of passes or stand out in a significant manner.

During the regular season, Johnson only caught nine passes for a total of 160 yards. So far in his career, Johnson has 51 receptions for 839 yards and three touchdowns. Those aren’t exactly amazing stats for five years in the NFL.

Johnson could be a decent option to keep around for depth purposes, but it probably wouldn’t hurt the Titans to look around for someone else to take his spot on their roster. If the Titans can get him on a cheap deal that doesn’t interfere with other contracts that are a little higher on the priority list, then bringing Johnson back would potentially make sense.

However, there are other contracts that should be examined before Johnson’s. Like one from Tennessee’s offensive line.
