After advancing to the AFC Championship Game, quarterback Joe Burrow is tired of the Cincinnati Bengals being called “underdogs.”

For the first time since 1988, the Cincinnati Bengals are heading to the AFC Championship Game. They faced a formidable foe in the Tennessee Titans in the Divisional Round, but a late interception thrown by Ryan Tannehill and a clutch pass from Joe Burrow to Ja’Marr Chase set up rookie Evan McPherson’s game-winning 52-yard field goal to clinch the 19-16 victory.

After the game, Burrow said that he is tired of the Bengals being called “underdogs,” and that they are in the playoffs to make some noise.

Burrow and the Bengals reached the playoffs by winning the AFC North title for the first time since 2015. In the Wild Card Round, the Bengals won their first playoff game in 31 years when they beat the Las Vegas Raiders 26-19.

The second-year quarterback had a rough time facing the Titans pass rush. Tennessee recorded nine sacks on Burrow, tied for the most recorded in a single playoff game. Yet Cincinnati’s defense did their part as well, forcing Tannehill to throw three interceptions. His last pick allowed Burrow to connect with Chase for a 19-yard gain to put them in field goal range. A confident McPherson nailed the kick as the clock struck triple zeroes.

In the game, Burrow completed 28-of-37 pass attempts for 348 yards and one interception.

Now, the Bengals wait to see if they will play the Kansas City Chiefs or the Buffalo Bills in the Conference Championship Game. Whoever that is, Burrow let the world know not to call them underdogs anymore.
