Season Review: DOTA: Dragon’s Blood Book Two

Overview:

Renowned Dragon Knight Davion becomes embroiled in events much larger than he could have ever imagined.

Our Take:
If you read my review of Book One of DOTA: Dragon’s Blood you might remember I had just a few nitpicks with the ending and some character motivations. Well, I can promise you that all gets resolved in this part. I was already impressed with DOTA but this part got me hoping for Netflix to keep pumping it out. Apparently. Netflix and MOBA’s just mix really well because their series Arcane which is based on League of Legends is fantastic as well.
I am going to attempt to keep the spoilers to a minimum but there might be a few tiny ones for the early episodes at least. There was a part that made us think Marci died so I was ready to write off the whole season but luckily the rumors of her demise were greatly exaggerated. One of the issues I had with Book One was with Mirana and Marci’s motivations. Why is Marci so loyal to Mirana? Why is Mirana such a devout supporter of Selemene? Well, luckily there are some awesome flashback episodes that explain all of that.
There are some amazing new characters that get introduced this time as well. My personal favorite would have to be the dragon Auroth. I mean a dragon that writes poetry and teases Bram about being her mate? Her inclusion was golden. That’s not to say that the other big new character, Lina wasn’t a welcome addition. The fiery redhead who can also literally hurl fire was an amazing addition. I loved her and what she brought to the plot as well.
I absolutely love Studio Mir and will probably watch anything they put out after this. Their work on Avatar, The Legend of Korra, Voltron, The Witcher, and this are so good. I can usually tell their animation style right away. The fight scenes are so good and when the magic starts getting hurled around it’s even better!
DOTA: Dragon’s Blood Book Two is so good. It irons out the wrinkles from the first part and still leaves me wanting more. There isn’t a definitive conclusion yet so I imagine that another part is around the corner or at the very least I hope so. So now that both parts are up it is perfect for binging and the seasons are only eight episodes each! Get on it!
