The Los Angeles Rams signed Odell Beckham Jr. in November with the hope he could rediscover some of the form that made him one of the best NFL wide receivers for years. A few months later, Los Angeles doesn’t even want to think about a future without OBJ on the field.

Following his release from the Cleveland Browns, many assumed Beckham ould sign with the Green Bay Packers. But location and contract incentives led him to Los Angeles, a decision that proved timely since Robert Woods tore his ACL hours later.

Even right after signing Beckham Jr. to a contract for the remainder of the season, the Rams wanted more. While it was only a short-term deal, both sides were interested in a long-term pact. Unsurprisingly, that feeling remains as Los Angeles goes on a playoff run.

Sean McVay told The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue that the Rams would like Beckham Jr. to be part of the team’s future and praised the Pro Bowl receiver for being a great teammate since his arrival.

Expectations around the league weren’t especially high after the signing. In his final 13 games with Cleveland, dating back to the 2020 season, Beckham Jr. finished with 531 receiving yards and three touchdowns across 76 targets. Many wondered if he’d even return to form as a No.2-caliber receiver.

Once he settled into the Rams’ offense, earning Matthew Stafford‘s trust, Beckham Jr. flashed many of the elite physical traits that made him one of the best pass-catchers in the NFL. Los Angeles keeps getting him more involved in the offense and after a huge playoff performance, it’s evident OBJ remains an impact player.

There are additional factors that will work in Beckham’s favor. Chris Godwin and Michael Gallup, two of the best free-agent receivers this offseason, will be recovering from torn ACLs suffered late in the season. Meanwhile, Allen Robinson is coming off one of the worst seasons in his career.

With plenty of teams in need of playmakers, there won’t be a shortage of teams interested in Odell Beckham Jr. With the NFL salary cap skyrocketing next season, approaching $209 million, OBJ should land a multi-year deal worth at least $15 million per season. The price tag might be the only reason he leaves the Rams.
