HILL TAX BRIEFING: Biden Signals Need to Cut Reconciliation Plan

President Joe Biden Wednesday acknowledged that Democrats will likely need to break up a broad economic package into multiple bills.

A roughly $2 trillion reconciliation package has been stalled in the Senate since December, when Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) announced he wouldn’t support the legislation due to concerns about inflation and a bevy of short-term spending programs.

“It is clear to me that we are probably going to have to break it up,” Biden said during a White House press conference.
