Fire causes damage to central Pa. restaurant: Reports

A fire damaged a restaurant in Franklin County early Saturday morning, according to news reports.

Crews were called to the Copper Kettle Restaurant in the 1000 block of Lincoln Highway East in Hamilton Township near Chambersburg around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, according to WGAL.

Chambersburg Fire Chief Dustin Ulrich told the news station that the fire was concentrated in a storage area and in the back of the kitchen, and that the restaurant has extensive damage to the rear and smoke damage throughout the dining area.

The restaurant posted a message on its Facebook page on Saturday morning and said it vows to reopen.

“As many of you may have heard, we had an incident late last night after we closed involving a fire at the restaurant,” the restaurant said its Facebook page. “Fortunately everybody in the building was evacuated safely and the fire team was quick to respond. We will be doing repairs, maintenance, and everything in our power so that we can reopen our doors to our valued guests in a safe and timely manner.”

The restaurant was empty at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries, and two people who lived in the apartment above the restaurant were able to get out after a passer-by knocked on their door to tell them about the fire, Fox 43 reported.
