Thousands of cases of Amy's Kitchen vegan 'mac & cheeze' recalled for potentially containing milk

That vegan mac and cheese may not be vegan after all.

Amy's Kitchen is recalling 15,626 cases of vegan mac and cheese after discovering it could have trace amounts of milk, an ingredient that is not listed and could potentially cause allergic reactions.

The company has recalled some Vegan Organic Rice Mac & Cheeze products "out of an abundance of caution" to protect customers from any serious or life-threatening allergic reactions to milk.

The recall includes 8 oz. packages of Vegan Organic Rice Mac & Cheeze with UPC code 42272-00043, lot code 60J0421 and a "best before" date of O2023.

Amy's Kitchen is working with retail and distribution customers to make sure affected products are removed from distribution, according to a statement from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Customers who have purchased an affected product should dispose of it or return it for a full refund.
