AUSTIN (KXAN) — One man has been arrested after a double homicide in north Austin Saturday. Two people were found shot to death in a parking lot, the Austin Police Department said.

Police were able to locate the suspect, identified as Yong Yoon Kim, 31, shortly after arriving on scene.

On Monday, police identified Nathan Limoge, 28, and Christopher Rivers, 38, as the victims of Saturday’s shooting.

Homicide investigators and crime technicians at the scene interviewed witnesses before coming into contact with Kim, police said. Kim told officers he called 911 to report he had “gotten into an altercation with two men and shot them in self-defense,” per police.

However, officers said witnesses at the scene gave differing accounts.

According to an arrest affidavit for Kim, a 911 caller reported seeing a suspect pull out a silver gun, point it directly at one of the victims and fire a shot. After the victim fell to the ground, the caller reported the suspect then fired another shot, hitting the victim.

After that, the caller reported the suspect went up to another man in the area and fired “one gunshot to the victim’s head, at close range,” the arrest affidavit said.

Another witness also told police he didn’t see the victims pull out any weapons of their own during the encounter.

Kim was arrested and charged with capital murder and was booked into the Travis County jail. He is being held with no bond, police said.

As of Monday, no attorney was listed for Kim.

The shooting happened a little before noon Saturday at the 2100 block of West Anderson Lane.

Officer Michael Bullock with APD’s public information team said people calling 911 reported finding two gunshot victims in the parking lot near an apartment complex in the area. Limoge and Rivers were pronounced dead on scene.

There is no ongoing threat to the public, APD said.
