cal fire now releasing the cause of the colorado fire and Big Sur fire officials say high winds sent hot embers from a burn pile into nearby vegetation. Cal fire did not release the location or say if there will be a criminal investigation This morning, the fire has burned 700 acres. It is 50% contained one structure to your, it has been damaged by this fire. And cal fire chief says that there's now talk of setting up a time and date to reopen highway one, lifting mandatory evacuation orders cal fire announcing Tuesday. They are able to release some resources, which is another indication that crews getting the upper hand on this fire. Still, a lot of heavy equipment remains on Highway one, which is a major factor in determining when the road will reopen to all traffic evacuees living on Pollo colorado and now day five of evacuations, we're just really, really hoping we left animals there. It's going on the 5th day you're in shock and this is when you're ready to go every day. I'm like, can we go home today already? I definitely, you know, I miss home. I've been away for about a week now because I was up north and I came home and then I had to leave right away. So it's my favorite place to be on the planet. Cal Fire says there is also talk among agencies about lifting hard road closures on Highway one south of Carmel Highlands. An exact timeline has not been set for lifting the evacuation order though or those road closures, meantime, more central services now being allowed into Big Sur. It's welcome news for businesses in that area. Action News reporter Alani Letang spoke with some business owners about access to resources. Access to these essential services will help make businesses less limited. They said they're looking forward to finally getting those much needed deliveries Right now, we're trying to get fish. So you know, we're, which is pretty perishable, so if that comes through that'll that'll be great, nepenthe is open but is only doing about 10% of the business. It does this time of year because of the highway one closure, they have started to see some vendors bring essential services like gas, propane and mail. They are not experiencing any food shortage issues, but the highway closure is impacting access to the iconic restaurant. We're really looking to try to get our staffing in and that's been a real challenge. Unless they take the 4 to 5 hour drive around the south, if we can get our people through and of course get the public access restored, then we'll be in much better shape at the Big Sur River in general store came dangerously close to running out of propane after losing power during the fire. But luckily the power's back on. So, you know, the propane is not really necessary, but for the community is we have a gas station and people have been coming in all week getting propane so they all have generators and other other needs Tuesday's deliveries are good news for the river in which was running low on necessities. It's mostly our restaurant that that relies on the fresh food to to keep keep, keep the restaurant going. We need the fresh food so that you know, you can only go so many weeks until you're out of food. Monterey County says they don't know yet how and what essential service access opportunities will be available for Big Sur the rest of the week Reporting in Big Sur. I'm Alani Letang, KSB W.
