The Three £1 Million Clauses In Cristiano Ronaldo's Manchester United Contract

The Three £1 Million Clauses In Cristiano Ronaldo's Manchester United Contract

Cristiano Ronaldo has three seven-figure bonuses in the Manchester United deal he signed in the summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo had three hidden clauses inserted in his Manchester United contract after returning to the club in the summer.

The Portuguese superstar agreed a two-year deal on reported wages of £475,000-a-week but took a big salary cut to leave Juventus for United.

United paid around £12 million to bring him back but according to the Daily Star, the Red Devils enticed Ronaldo by including performance-related bonuses in the contract.

Should Ronaldo help United win the Champions League, win the UEFA Player of the Year award or add to his Ballon d'Or tally - each achievement will net him a cool £1 million.

There has been talk that Ronaldo, like many players, would see his wages drop considerably if United fail to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Ralf Rangnick's side are currently in seventh place, two points behind West Ham who occupy the final Champions League spot.

They host La Liga winners Atletico Madrid in the next round of this season's competition.

Ronaldo has hit 14 goals in all competitions so far during his second stint at United but much has been made about his body language and attitude.

He threw a strop when Rangnick substituted him in the 3-1 win over Brentford on Wednesday night, with Ronaldo asking why the interim boss didn't take off one of the younger players.

In one training session, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner is said to have been offended when Rangnick asked him to change position.

In a detailed report from The Athletic, it's claimed the 36-year-old was not particularly involved in an 11-a-side training drill.

Rangnick decided to switch him to the left flank but Ronaldo did not take it well and was "nearly affronted" at the request from Rangnick.

The tweak did the trick though as he apparently finished the training session strongly.

Ronaldo recently questioned the mentality of some of his younger teammates and that reportedly didn't go down well with the majority.

Many feel the former Real Madrid and Juventus forward is difficult to talk to and not as approachable as Edinson Cavani.
