While things are looking up for Celtic at the moment, with a number of new signings arriving and settling in well, and a number of players recovering from their injury problems over the winter break, the situation surrounding Kyogo Furuhashi continues to remain a major worry for the club. And at the moment, it is unclear when the Japanese star will be back in action again.

He had picked up an injury against Real Betis and it was a mistake on the part of Postecoglou to play him in that game, with nothing riding on the result. He would come back in time to guide Celtic to the Scottish League Cup by scoring a brace in the final against Hibernian despite not being 100 per cent fit.

He would reinjure himself a week later against St Johnstone though and has been out of action since. And there have been some rumours that he could be out for the season.

Fortunately, that does not appear to be true but it does look like Kyogo will be out of action for a long time as his injury is more significant than first expected, in what is a major worry for Celtic. As reported by Football Scotland, Postecoglou said regarding the situation:

"“He’s not out for the rest of the season. I can assure you of that.“Kyogo’s injury is more significant than we were hoping it would be and he will be out for a number of weeks.“It’s not going to be a quick return.“I don’t know how long and I don’t want to put a timeframe on it.”"

Celtic handed Kyogo blow although it looks like he is not out for rest of the season

While Kyogo not being out for the rest of the season is a massive boost for Celtic, at the same time, it does look like he will not be back in action soon either.

The arrival of Daizen Maeda is expected to help in that regard to some extent but even then, Celtic will surely miss Kyogo and one can only hope that he is back to full fitness as soon as possible.

At the same time, this is a huge blow for their Glasgow Derby hopes as Maeda will be away on Japan international duty at that point.
