Auburn basketball will be at the center of the sports world’s attention on Saturday afternoon for the first time ever.

We all know how the Tigers resonate with the world on the gridiron–this past Iron Bowl was watched by 17 million people–but Bruce Pearl has carved out a niche for AU’s basketball program on the Plains, something previously unthinkable prior to his arrival.

What we know about Kentucky basketball is that John Calipari has made Lexington one of the collegiate hoops hubs in the country and that what the Wildcats have is what Tiger fans yearn for in the future.

And while games in March ultimately have a more lasting effect on the memories of recruits, this is the Jungle’s chance to witness history. There’s simply no way the Tigers could be denied the #1 spot in the AP Top 25 if they knock off Kentucky.

Will we see a first this coming week because of what happens between Big Blue and the orange and blue?

Kentucky vs. Auburn prediction

Auburn has covered every single game in 2022, slicing through the SEC with precision and strength.

No test has been as tough as Kentucky is, though. While the young Wildcats have lost to the likes of LSU and Notre Dame (we’re certainly not beating them up over losing to Duke), they have won their last four, though putting down Texas A&M this past Wednesday wasn’t a walk in the park by any stretch.

Despite the degree of difficulty, the Tigers have been too good recently to not back once more here, especially with a student section that will be running on fumes after camping out all night to be a part of ‘The Jungle.’

Pick: Auburn -3.5 (-110)
