It was recently announced that former UFC bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes was leaving her longtime gym of American Top Team. This came after her shocking submission loss to Julianna Pena back in December.

There was plenty of speculation as to why with many thinking it could have something to do with the loss at UFC 269 or with Kayla Harrison planning to sign with the UFC. Julianna Pena made her thoughts on the matter clear.

“Yeah, what a zoo, huh?” Peña said during Wednesday’s UFC 270 media day via MMAJunkie. “Best of luck. I just hope everything goes according to her plans and that we can get this fight booked. That’s all I care about.”

Julianna Pena was also asked about when she expects to return and if she'll be facing Amanda Nunes. The UFC bantamweight champion expects a short wait but doesn't see herself fighting again until the summer.

“Amanda probably wants to get back in there as soon as possible, and she wants to try and get her belt back,” Peña said. “So I don’t anticipate her waiting a super long time. I think that she wants to get in there as soon as possible, and summer’s looking good for me. I’m free, and I don’t know what she’s doing, but summer time is good for me.”

It is not clear what the plan is for Amanda Nunes in the future. She is still the UFC featherweight champion and could still rematch Julianna Pena and try to get her belt back.
