AND COMPARED HOW LIKELY THEY WERE TO GO INTO THE HOSPITAL, BASED ON HOW MANY VACCINSHE S THEY’VE HAD, AND WHEN THEY GOT THEM. THEY FOUND PEOPLE WITH ALL 3 SHOTS, INCLUDING A BOOSTER, REWE 90% PROTECTED AGAINST GOING INTO THE HOSPITAL. PEOPLE WITH TWO SHOTS, WITHIN THE LAST SIX MONTHS AGO, WERE 81% PROTECTED. AND PEOPLE WITH TWO SHOTS,UT B MORE THAN SIX MONTHS AGO, WERE ONLY 57% PROTECTED. >> THAT BOOSTER IS LESS AND LESS OPTIONAL, IT IS SOMETHING YOU SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS A REQUIREMENT. REPORTER: DR. A new CDC study looked at more than 200,000 people with COVID-19 symptoms from late August to early January, and compared how likely they were to go into the hospital -- based on how many vaccine shots they had and when.Researchers found people with all three shots -- including a booster -- were 90 percent protected against going into the hospital.People with two shots within the last six months were 81 percent protected and people with two shots, but more than six months ago, were only 57 protected.Dr. Paul Biddinger with Mass. General Hospital says the study also shows booster shots -- at least recent ones -- are good at preventing you from getting infected in the first place and from spreading the virus.What scientists do not yet know if booster effectiveness will fade over time.
