Fans are highly anticipating the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero anime film, but a running joke has centered on the film’s somewhat repetitive name. In a recent statement, series creator Akira Toriyama commented on the title of the film.

Toriyama’s statement came in the latest issue of the V Jump magazine for March 2022. Amongst other news from the upcoming film, Toriyama sent in a statement and said that while the name be repetitive, the film is going to be very enjoyable for fans.
“Hello everyone, I’m Akira Toriyama, the original author,” the creator said in his statement. “For the upcoming anime movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the ‘Super’ may be a bit repetitive, but you should definitely find the film itself enjoyable! This time too, I did the story, dialogues, and some of the character designs, but more importantly, the animation this time is amazing! At this point, I’ve seen only a few images, but I was really impressed. I’m excitedly awaiting the movie’s release along with all the fans! Look forward to it!”

“An all-new movie since Dragon Ball Super: Broly is currently in the making!” announced Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. “Just like the previous movie, I’m heavily leading the story and dialogue production for another amazing film. I really shouldn’t talk too much about the plot yet, but be prepared for some extreme and entertaining bouts, which may feature an unexpected character. We’ll be charting through some unexplored territory in terms of the visual aesthetics to give the audience an amazing ride, so I hope everybody will look forward to the new movie!”
The anime adaptation of Dragon Ball Super ended in March 2018 after 131 episodes aired. This marks the second movie for Dragon Ball Super, which is the highly successful sequel series to Dragon Ball Z. The first film was Dragon Ball Super: Broly, which was directed by Tatsuya Nagamine and also written by Akira Toriyama. The movie takes place after the events of the Universe Survival Saga and features Goku and Vegeta taking on Broly.
