E-bike rider in critical condition after hit-and-run crash in Brooklyn: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An e-bike rider is in critical condition after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Brooklyn early Friday morning.

The incident happened just after midnight at the intersection of 10th Avenue and 18th Street in the Windsor Terrace neighborhood.

According to police, an unidentified man was riding the electric bicycle heading southbound on 10th Avenue when he traveled into and through the intersection of 18th Street.

While passing through, he was struck by an SUV traveling westbound through the intersection.

The driver immediately fled the scene, according to authorities.

Police officers responded to the scene and found the man unconscious and unresponsive, lying on the roadway with severe body trauma.

EMS responded and transported the man to New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Authorities said there were no arrests as of Friday afternoon and the investigation remains ongoing.
