WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — One man is in the hospital in critical condition after being shot in Winston-Salem, according to police.

The shooting happened in the 900 block of East Second Street around 2:21 p.m.

After being shot, the victim, a 27-year-old Burlington man, tried to drive off in his vehicle but ran off the road in the 900 block of East Second Street where he was found by responding police laying outside his vehicle.

The victim had been shot twice behind an apartment building, police say.

There is no suspect information available at this time.
