Lakeview's Peyton Russell has committed to play both softball and basketball at Adrian College. During her signing ceremony at Lakeview High School Wednesday, she was joined by her parents, Chad and Katti Russell (sitting) and other family members and coaches.

Adrian College grabbed two for the price of one when it convinced Lakeview's Peyton Russell to continue her athletic career at the Division III school.

Russell committed to play at Adrian College in both basketball and softball during a signing ceremony at Lakeview High School on Wednesday.

"It was very important to find a school where I could do both, because that was something I always dreamed about when I was little and it's very exciting to find out I will have the opportunity to do both sports," Russell said.

Russell, a power forward, is currently a senior leader on an undefeated Lakeview girls basketball team and was All-City last year in that sport. Russell was also All-City in softball, hitting .432 with 35 RBIs for the Spartans last spring.

"There were some schools that talked to me about doing both (sports), and a lot that wanted me for one or the other," Russell said. "I chose Adrian because I really liked the coaches and I really liked the school.

"When I was talking to the coaches, they said they liked how I was strong down low in basketball and the softball coach said she liked how I was a powerful hitter and could play multiple positions."
