Chicago Bears legend Dick Butkus has been on a long journey to get his Twitter account verified. It finally happened Friday — and he trolled Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to celebrate.

“Now that I have the blue check mark I can kick people off the platform right?” Butkus tweeted. “You hear me @AaronRodgers12?”

Butkus is one of the great players in Bears history. He won two NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards and made eight Pro Bowls during his nine-year career with Chicago. He’s also one of the most decorated Illinois football players ever and his No. 50 is one of two jersey numbers the Fighting Illini have retired.

In true Bears fashion, he had to chime in on the heated rivalry with the Packers. Remember: Rodgers celebrated a touchdown at Soldier Field by saying “I still own you,” lighting up Bears Twitter in the proceess.

Butkus started his campaign to get verified in December when Twitter denied his request for verification. He took matters into his own hands, using the hashtag #getbutkusverified and regularly tagging Twitter to get the blue check mark next to his name.

Now, he’s official — and he’s been on a tweeting frenzy ever since. It’s safe to say he’s pretty happy about it.

Aaron Rodgers takes final Deflategate shot at Tom Brady, New England Patriots

Prior to the NFL’s Divisional Round of the playoffs this week, Aaron Rodgers did an interview with Sportsnet and played “Drone Jeopardy.” When he picked up the football to play it, he took a jab at the New England Patriots and the Deflategate scandal.

For “Drone Jeopardy,” Rodgers had to throw a football at drones and answer questions. He had to warm up first — and that’s when he took the shot at Tom Brady and the Patriots.

“This is too firm for the Patriots,” he said.

Talk about a low blow.

The Deflategate scandal happened during the 2014 AFC Championship game between the Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts. New England won the game 45-7, but Brady allegedly called for deflation of the footballs. It resulted in a four-game suspension for Brady and a $1 million fine and lost draft picks for the Patriots.

Rodgers’ comments come ahead of an NFC Divisional Round matchup with the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday. The winner gets a date with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Los Angeles Rams — meaning Brady and Rodgers could square off in the NFC Championship.
