We are now just under three weeks away from the NBA trade deadline, and rumors are starting to emerge in a frenzy. Arguably the biggest topic in the association right now involves the Philadelphia 76ers and Ben Simmons.

Dating back to the summer, Simmons and his camp made it clear the former No. 1 pick prefers a change of scenery. Daryl Morey has surveyed the trade market, but a suitable return for the Sixers has yet to surface. The longtime Houston Rockets executive has made it abundantly clear he will remain patient until an offer comes about that increases the Sixers' odds of competing for an NBA championship.

Throughout this saga, multiple teams have expressed interest in acquiring the three-time All-Star. One organization that has been a common fixture in reports for months now is the Sacramento Kings. Given how determined they are to get back to the postseason, it is no surprise they have been hot on the Simmons trail.

In recent weeks there have been multiple reports about the Kings and Sixers facilitating a deal for Simmons. Some even brought up the possibility of Sacramento acquiring Tobias Harris as well. At this point, if a deal were to go down, the Kings have to be the favorites to win the Simmons sweepstakes.

Thursday afternoon, Daryl Morey appeared on 97.5 The Fanatic and was interviewed on The Mike Missanelli Show. Multiple topics were covered, from Joel Embiid's recent play to the upcoming trade deadline. He was even asked about the rumors regarding the Kings' strong interest in Simmons.

When Sacramento was brought up, Morey had a rather shocking response. He feels there is a trade to be made between the two organizations.

“I can tell you for sure there are deals with the Sacramento Kings that I think would work. Will those deals ever happen? I have no idea. Are they just straight deals with the Kings? Probably not. Is it multiple teams? probably. But for sure, there are deals that are possible that would go over our line,” said Morey.

Morey did not dive into said offers, but it's clear he is monitoring the situation with Sacramento. One thing this statement does confirm is the Sixers have little interest in acquiring Kings guard De'Aaron Fox. With the emergence of Tyrese Maxey this season, they could be reluctant to pursue another point guard with a similar skill set.

As far as multi-team trades go, the Kings would make an excellent partner. Between Fox, Harrison Barnes and Buddy Hield, Sacramento has multiple sizeable contracts, making them an ideal partner to help facilitate trades from a financial standpoint.

Given some of Morey's other comments in the interview, it feels unlikely we see Simmons traded before February 10th. But based on this statement, the Kings are a team to keep a close eye on in the coming weeks.
