The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Coming Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack in February - News

Nintendo announced  the Nintendo 64 game, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, is coming to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack in February.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask first released for the Nintendo 64 in April 2000 in Japan and in Fall 2000 in North America and Europe. It was rereleased for the GameCube in 2003 in the The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition.

The Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Switch Online collection launched last fall with many classic games like Super Mario 64, The legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Star Fox 64, and Mario Kart 64. It is part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, which also includes Sega Genesis games and the Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise DLC.

Here is an overview of the game:

An ominous fate also awaits you next month—unless you can avert it, that is—when The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask game makes its time-twisting debut on Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Switch Online library in February. In this Nintendo 64 classic, Link has just three days to save the world before the moon itself comes crashing down, destroying Termina and everyone inhabiting it.

Kind of agree. TP and MM are neck and neck for 2nd place to me.

I agree that it's been massively underappreciated. Majora's Mask is emerging as one of my very favorite Legend of Zelda games too.

Why not make the entire n64 catalog available immediately and upload a newer game on a monthly basis. It's ridiculous

What newer games?

You're confusing me.

I'm confused too lol. He says Nintendo should upload their entire n64 catalog, but then suggests uploading a "newer" game when an n64 game hasn't been developed in almost 20 years and thus also indicating that the entire n64 catalog was not uploaded then....so there's a contradiction to this statement lol

I'm assuming he means Nintendo just upload all the catalog of n64 games that have been advertised to come to the service already like Majora's Mask, F-Zero X, Pokemon Snap, Kirby 64, then for monthly releases, be games that haven't been advertised like DK64, Perfect Dark, Diddy Kong Racing, etc.

When I refer to newer games, I mean Switch games or Nintendo games that are a couple of years old.

and I said indeed because I feel like Nintendo doesn't release as many new games.

New Switch games that still sell shouldn't be added to NSO. That doesn't make sense businesswise.
Releasing a game every month to the service keeps it in the conversation and in people's minds. That's the idea.

Well they make all the games have online play and rewind (maybe the rewind is just built into the emulator, not sure) and all that stuff. So each game requires work. If they were just releasing the games on the service "as is" then I'm sure they could just dump a bunch at once no problem. But instead they are building us the ultimate retro games service! It sucks they are doing it so slowly, but once it's built they don't need to redo it every gen, it'll always be here! One game a month does suck though, but I guess they did just add 5 Genesis games last month. With four systems on there now they should really be adding like one game a week, and get GB up there this year and GBA next year.

Assuming they fix some of the issues with the emulator I will sign up for the service in about a year once more games are released. Not enough games to justify $50 for me as I can beat all the N64 games I would want to play in a bout a month or two.

That's cool. But why did it take over two months and still isn't completely fixed?

Good they got a partial fix on the emulator, but they really need to get it totally fixed soon. Also they should add Mario 35 to the expansion pack considering they built that entire game only to have it playable for half a year then they trashed it. That's a whole game that just isn't being used and could add some value to the expansion pack with zero effort on their part.

Banjo and MM are two huge additions though, outside of Goldeneye those feel like probably the two biggest N64 games they could add, so glad they are adding them quickly. If they get another 3 or 4 N64 games plus another batch or two of Genesis games on there in the next few months, while also fixing the N64 emulator, that'll be a nice package and well worth a measly $4.17/month.

To me the main thing Switch Online is missing is a game and system schedule so we can know when they are planning to add stuff and not just be left in the dark all the time wondering if and when certain games and systems will get added. I mean hell there were plenty of people back when Online first started that just assumed NES was the only thing that it would ever have. I mean that was obviously not going to be the case, but they could gain a huge amount of fan support (instead of the constant fan complaining) if they just announced what and when they were planning to add.
