New takeout and catering restaurant opens in Old Louisville
A new catering and takeout restaurant opened in Old Louisville on Monday.
Bobbie's Son Catering is located at 317 W. Oak Street, a space previously occupied by Yummy Yummy Chicken and Fish.
The majority of the new restaurant's 1,200 square feet is dedicated to its kitchen. Bobbie's Son has just one table for customers to sit at while they wait for their takeout food.
"It's not sit-in dining. I'm hoping to do a lot of catering here, but I know this neighborhood is a food desert, so I wanted to be able to feed people in the community too," explained owner Chris Hamilton.
While he was unemployed, Hamilton borrowed a food truck from his friends at Cardinal Rules Catering and started catering from it. He also decided to pursue a culinary degree at Jefferson Community and Technical College.
Hamilton graduated in December. He said Bobbie's Son is a product of his catering and food truck experience.
The menu at Bobbie's Son is a mix of American comfort food. It features chicken wings, sandwiches, salads, hot dogs, and wraps. Prices range from $3 to $8.
