Russian tennis star and world-number two Daniil Medvedev emerged victorious over Nick Kyrgios in their Australian Open clash on Thursday. Given the expressive personalities of the two players on the court, the match was, expectedly, filled with memorable moments. A chair umpire rant, a raucous crowd and some excellent shot-making were just some of the highlights from the Medvedev-Kyrgios clash. However, one moment stood out during Medvedev's post-match interview, when he went off on Australian Open fans- who were imitating soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo's “SUII” goal celebration- for what he thought was disrespect, via CBS Sports.

“I had a few moments on my serve, many games were actually quite easy for me, but a few moments were tough and he managed to make some good returns,” Medvedev said. “Then I have breakpoint second serve and people are cheering like you've already made a double fault. That's just disappointing. It's not everybody that's doing it but the people doing it probably have a low IQ.”

Daniil Medvedev thought the Australian Open fans were booing him, when in fact, they were actually imitating the goal-scoring celebration uttered by Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo. After the Medvedev-Kyrgios match, the world-number two delivered the knockout blow to the Australian Open fans with his “low-IQ comments.

Medvedev won't make many fans at the Australian Open making comments like that, but the Russian star doesn't seem to care, as this isn't the first time he's clashed with tennis fans.

The presumptive Australian Open favorite, Daniil Medvedev is probably hoping more fans imitate Cristian Ronaldo moving forward so that he can keep using the perceived disrespect as motivation.
