The Hitman 3 Year 2 and Steam release have just started, bringing with it a massive patch, VR support for the PC version, and the entire trilogy joining Game Pass. However, things have gone off on the wrong foot, and the fans are not happy about it.

The Hitman 3 Year 2 problems come in several different forms. First off, anyone trying out the VR mode will find it to be very janky, and doesn't seem to work with the HP Reverb G2 VR headset. On the pricing front, fans are upset that the game's multiple editions cost full retail price despite being available on the Epic Games Store for a year and the whole trilogy being on Game Pass for less. Others have noted that the pricing is wildly inconsistent in certain regions, such as South Africa. There have also been online issues, as players have to go online and deal with a login queue for a single player game if they want to use features such as:

Elusive targets, including the new elusive target arcade

Escalations

Custom contracts, featured or otherwise

Complete challenges

Earn XP

Unlock new items

View your progress (unlocked items, suits etc)

Use in-level shortcuts in Hitman 3

These problems and more have resulted in the Steam page for Hitman 3 being bombed with negative reviews, with it at one point being mostly negative. As of writing, it's currently sitting at a Mixed rating with 377 reviews, after recovering from an outwardly negative reception earlier.

With review bombings comes Reddit rages, and the Hitman 3 Year 2 update is no different. Negative posts and toxicity popped up on the subreddit, with reports that some particularly bad actors had threatened and hacked a mod who had deleted some of the negative posts. As a result, the moderators made the decision to temporarily shut down the subreddit, saying that "Criticism is of course allowed, but harassment and vitriol is not, as per the rules."

The Hitman subreddit isn't the only one that had to shut down so fans could cool off. The Battlefield 2042 subreddit had to pull out the threat of a shutdown when fans were getting too toxic, and the Halo one closed for a weekend due to doxxing and death threats.
