We are sad to report that legendary rock musician Meat Loaf has passed away.
The New York Times reported that Meat Loaf passed away on Thursday. He was 74 years old.
Meat Loaf was a Grammy Award-winning musician best known for his 1977 rock album Bat Out of Hell, which grew to be one of the best-selling albums of all time, having sold over 40 million copies worldwide. He was born as Marvin Lee Aday, having adopted his stage name from a nickname he received as a child.
Meat Loaf collaborated with Jim Steinman, who transformed a post-apocalyptic musical he was writing based on Peter Pan into the Bat Out of Hell album. Meat Loaf’s live band was most likely named The Neverland Express out of Steinman’s love for Peter Pan.
You might also know Meat Loaf from films such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Fight Club, among several others. According to a statement posted on Meat Loaf’s Facebook page, he passed away surrounded by his loved ones.
