A 3-year-old injured Thursday night in a hit-and-run in Lynn had to be med-flighted to Boston Children’s Hospital as doctors worried about the extent of the child’s injuries, officials said.
The child was struck by a minivan while exiting a car with their mother on Bulfinch Street, a quiet residential road, just after 9 p.m., Lynn police said. The driver of the minivan, a black Toyota, immediately sped away from the scene.
After being taken to Salem Hospital with a leg injury, the child was med-flighted to Boston as doctors grew concerned of additional injuries, according to Lt. Michael Kmiec, of the Lynn Police Department. The child is now in stable condition, he said.
Initial reports had stated the child was 4 years old and that they were taken to the Massachusetts General Hospital.
As of Friday morning, police were still unsure who was driving the minivan, Kmiec said. Massachusetts State Police and Lynn police were investigating the crash.
