Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street's Jane Hazlegrove has revealed that Bernie Winter will soon experience more heartache, as her relationship with Dev Alahan hits another stumbling block.
In next week's Corrie, Dev attempts to make amends with Bernie after upsetting her when he corrected a reporter who suggested they were a couple.
Reflecting on Dev's treatment of Bernie, and his instinct to keep their relationship a secret, Jane admitted that it "cut" her character "to the core".
She explained: "[Bernie] was furious with him. She has had that all her life with how she looks. She is not very conventional nor would she want to be.

"She doesn't look like anybody else, she doesn't sound like anybody else. Bernie is Bernie, and all her life she has had people ridicule her and bring her down."
Adding that Dev "really hurts" Bernie with his comment, Jane said that she "doesn't understand" why she's being made to feel "like a grubby secret".
Although Dev decides to go 'public' with their romance and invites both his and Bernie's families to dinner, things soon take a turn when he discovers Bernie tried to cut a deal with Clint Stubbins for a share of the £30,000 for Joseph Brown's whereabouts.
Rather than alerting the police to Clint's dodgy deal with Hope Stape, Bernie tries to get a cut of the cash for herself.

And it's that indiscretion of Bernie's that Jane thinks will signal curtains for her character and Dev's romance, admitting that their relationship could well be over "for now".
Hinting at Dev's disappointment, the Corrie star said: "He feels very let down, but I would love to see them get past this and their relationship to develop.
"I think they do have a spark that could go on and on. It's not without complications, but that is fun to play. I would like to think that they have other journeys to go on."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm on ITV.
