Matthew G. Caputo, 98, who served his country in WW II in the US Army and was awarded The Bronze Star and The Purple Heart, and who worked for Marine Aviation (S.I. Ferries) and retired in 1985, died Jan.16, 2022.

Israel Greenwald, OD, who was a past president of the New York State Optometric Association, had a popular optometry practice on Staten Island and was an adjunct clinical professor at SUNY College of Optometry, died Jan. 14, 2022.

Frank William Guagliardo, 85, who began his career in the accounting field with Equitable International in Manhattan, where he worked for 15 years, and who retired seven years ago from Cicero, LoVerde and Pacifico Certified Public Accountants, Port Richmond, died Jan. 19, 2022.

Linda Margaret Harris (ne Robinson), a lifelong Staten Islander, who had three children, three granddaughters, and five great-grandchildren, died Jan. 17, 2022.

Ruth E. Jones, 93, of Mariners Harbor, who was a nurse working at Willowbrook Park State School until she retired, having twice received a Nurse of the Year Award, and who was an active member of the Mariners Harbor Baptist Church, died Jan. 14, 2022.

YESTERDAY’S OBITUARIES:

Nicholas A. Forlizzi, 82, who retired from NYC Transit as a bus operator and became a flooring designer, and who was a father of eight children, died Jan. 12, 2022.

Henry C. Nadal, 91, of Grasmere, who worked as a metal lithographer until his retirement, and was previously in the U.S. Navy and sailed for eight years as a merchant marine where he worked to resettle WWII concentration camp survivors and evacuated residents of South Korea during the Korean War, died Jan. 18, 2022.
