Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez's rekindled romance may take a major step forward this year. A source told Entertainment Tonight that things between Bennifer are going so well that their friends are convinced Affleck will definitely be proposing at some point.

The source noted that following Affleck's Howard Stern interview and his remarks on his ex-wife Jennifer Garner going viral, Affleck and Lopez's relationship didn't really suffer. “Jen and Ben are doing great,” the source said. “Ben's interview with Howard Stern didn't really put too much of a strain on their relationship. They understand that things like this happen sometimes, and words can get misconstrued.”

“They are madly in love and Jen totally has Ben's back, which is why she wanted to make her support and stance known publicly,” the source added. “Things between their children are pretty organic at this point. The families respect each other and also get along, so things are all good and fine on that front. Their friends think they will get engaged eventually and it's only a matter of time.”

Lopez released a statement supporting Affleck following his remarks about Garner being taken out of context last month. She denied a story circulating at the time that she was upset about what he said. “This story is simply not true,” Lopez said, via People. “It is not how I feel. I couldn't have more respect for Ben as a father, a co-parent, and a person.”

Lopez and Affleck were engaged previously during their first time dating from 2002 to early 2004. The two rekindled their relationship last spring. Us Weekly was told way back in September that Bennifer 2.0 would go the distance. “They feel so blessed to be living this real-life fairy tale, and will be getting engaged—then married—down the line,” its source said. “Without any shadow of doubt.”
