CS - Beth/Kirk - Is There Any Point?

Scriptwriters seem to have forgotten they exist. Obviously, Beth had a part in Sinead's death, but nothing since, and Kirk's biggest storyline in recent times was dressing up as Buzzer. Would anyone miss them if they were written out?

Kirk is a nice background character but his lifestyle in real life suggests he is rolling in it for doing very little. It annoys me as some of us work hard for our living including up and coming actors who want a break.
Beth is decent enough but is never there long enough to gain anything as a developing character.

    Better than Izzy Armstrong though!

Now there is a true waste of space character if every there was one.

Personally I can’t stand Beth, so I’m glad she hasn’t been on screen much recently. I do think if Andrew hadn’t been on Corrie for such a long time they would have axed both Kirk and Beth by now, they add little to the show these days.

According to the Corrie wiki page Beth only appeared in 15 episodes last year. Is the actress taking time off due to COVID? It seems very little for an entire year.

The actress has type 2 diabetes so has been shielding throughout the pandemic, hence the small number of appearances.

Beth is amongst my least favourite characters - easily bottom 3.. I can tolerate Kirk a little more but I really wouldn't miss either of them.

I like Beth, but she hasn't been utilised very well since the Sinead story-line concluded. I appreciate the actress has had to shield lately, but it'd be great to see her get a story she could get her teeth into.

I feel the could perhaps use another family member to tie them together more, Sinead seemingly had several siblings who have never appeared. Or maybe they could even think of starting a family of their own? I think Kirk would actually make an excellent Dad - he was great in the scenes years ago with young Ches.

Is there any point of 1/4 of the cast not just Beth and Kirk

Kirk is one of those nice but dim characters. Beth is just dim. They’re basically glorified extras.

Beth really annoys me - the actress is good and capable of so much more than the rubbish she is given. When we see Beth's softer side she's really likeable, but usually it's just shouting and sniping at people.

Kirk is appalling - I could put up with him as a simple but sweet background character but now they've turned him into a village idiot with the most ridiculously unfunny storylines, he's unwatchable.

There are quite a few characters that wouldn't be missed, apart from Beth, Kirk and Izzy who have already been mentioned, I'd also add Cathy and Brian to the list.

The only time Beth has been likeable in my opinion was when Sinead had cancer. She went above and beyond to help care for her beloved Niece. I love how Sinead always called her Auntie Beth, so affectionately. Sinead brought out the best in her.

I'd completely forgotten their existence (and Izzy's as well). These characters add absolutely nothing to the soap and need to be got rid of.

Corrie has the biggest amount of deadwood of all the Soaps.

All Deadwood Characters but none of them will be axed.

I've never minded them, always found them to be a strange coupling though. Yeah they are background characters but you need some of those, and they do an alright job with their parts when they give them things to do. Lets just say there are many characters I would want to see the back of before reaching Beth and Kirk who don't bother me.

Yes agree with that with the Sinead storyline. But I do seem to remember when she first joined she was hot-headed but we could still see she was kind hearted. Now she's just vile.

There are plenty of characters I'd axe before Beth and Kirk while they are kept as background characters but I wouldn't be at all sorry to see them go.

Yep it wasn't a reason to shield. My dad is 70 with type 2 and was fine to go out.

Corrie had too many comedy characters and Kirk really is not funny any more.

The stupid stuff about him becoming a singer was the final straw.

When there are so few places to lives on the street, each house needs to have a strong family in it.

I actually realised from this that I have no idea where Beth and Kirk live. I thought they had a house on the street. Looked it up and they don't. That's how integral they are.
