Police said troopers out of the Dartmouth barracks responded to the crash on I-195 westbound near the Faunce Corner Road exit shortly before 2 a.m. on Friday.

Emergency crews arrived to find McMullen on the road near her Honda Civic, which state police said had sustained "significant damage."

A preliminary investigation revealed that McMullen lost control of her car, which struck the guardrail and came to a stop in the highway median.

All westbound lanes were temporarily closed at the crash scene during the investigation. The road was fully reopened at 5:15 a.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Just off Faunce Corner Road in Dartmouth is an animal sanctuary for livestock that has become home to over 50 animals is just five short years. Whether they arrived because their owners could no longer care for them or they were removed from an abusive situation, Deborah Devlin and Jill Tagino, who run Don't Forget Us, Pet Us sanctuary, take in animals with no where else to go. Clearly, the livestock they care for are very happy to have found a home for the rest of their natural lives.
