Olivia Rodrigo had an excellent 2021 for her career. After releasing her debut single titled "drivers license" in January 2021, her chart record went up, even after releasing her first album "Sour." Today, fans are still waiting for the follow-up and new music; when is the singer releasing a new record?
According to Cosmopolitan Magazine, the Disney star's first album was a massive success as it dominated charts and streaming platforms in almost all countries.
This 2022, Rodrigo is busy with acting as the third season of the hit Disney+ series "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" is set to air anytime this year.
The show will reportedly feature tracks from Disney classics like "Frozen" and "Camp Rock."
Per Teen Vogue, numerous fans theorized that the singer would release a surprise secret album titled "Sweet" in the summer of 2021. However, it didn't happen.
In an interview with Nylon Magazine, the interviewer asked Rodrigo what was next for her; she answered, "My life is really great right now. It's so awesome to do music and feel seen in that way."
She also added that she's going to graduate high school soon, and she's busy with a lot of work on her hands.
Today, Rodrigo is gearing up to go on tour this April 2022 and is currently filming for the show's third season. The abovementioned magazine suggested that it's safe to say a new record isn't coming anytime soon as she's caught up with so much work.
However, they mentioned that Rodrigo might have secretly recorded new songs for the upcoming album as she previously told The Los Angeles Times that she wrote around five songs for "Sour" while filming "HSMTMTS."
Olivia Rodrigo's Clues for her Next Album
Speaking to CLASH back in November, Rodrigo mentioned that her next album is "probably going to be a lot happier" than the record she put out last year.
"Sour" heavily featured heartbreak tracks such as "Traitor," "good 4 u," "deja vu," "enough for you," and many more.
Regarding the title of her next album, many fans theorized that her upcoming record will be titled "Sweet." Jimmy Kimmel brought up the theory in an interview a few months back.
Rodrigo mentioned that she's still "working on the rest of it," and the title is her "little secret."
In her collab with Sour Patch Kids, she also dropped a hint as the slogan included "sour then sweet."
However, she told the outlet that it was not her plan.
At the time of this writing, Olivia Rodrigo has not publicly announced her second album's official title and release date.
