Joe Rogan is an accomplished actor, standup and broadcaster with a dedicated fanbase and $100 million of Spotify money in the bank. I’m still not taking his medical advice.
I’m not someone who thinks celebrities should just shut up and do whatever it is they’re famous for. They have just as much right to share their political opinions as any other citizen. Want to spend your Oscar acceptance speech talking about Tibet, it’s your platform, use as you see fit. Hell, I spout off here several times a week and my only qualification is that I can draw. Celebrities should feel free to swerve in and out of their lanes whenever the mood strikes, except when it comes to people’s health.
As we learned from Spider-Man, with great power comes great responsibility. If you have the type of platform Rogan does it’s incumbent upon you to not spout nonsense that might get somebody killed. Same goes for Rand Paul, Ron Desantis and Trump. The backlash you may experience from filling people’s heads with conspiracies is not cancel culture, its consequences. For whatever reason, people listen to you. Stop telling them to drink bleach.
