The famed Farmers Insurance Open, one of the PGA’s most prestigious tournaments, is back for another year at the beautiful Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla. While last year’s tournament occurred without spectators, this year, fans are welcomed back to the greens to watch greats like Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson as they compete for golf glory.

Due to lingering uncertainty surrounding COVID and the Omicron variant, this year’s festivities will still be a scaled-down event. There are no official after-parties, which are usually a highlight of the tournament. But there’s still fun to be had at the tournament for golf fans and non-golf fans alike.

Here’s a look at some things attendees can look forward to this year at Torrey:

Upgraded amenities/VIP perks

Those who purchase upgraded tickets can enjoy perks like the new Canyon Club, a VIP viewing experience overlooking the 17th and 8th greens. Canyon Club guests will have access to all-inclusive food and a full bar, plus VIP restrooms. There are also covered tables, seating and televisions broadcasting live coverage and scoring. The ULTRA Zone is another new addition to this year’s tournament, with all-inclusive beers, seltzers and other non-alcoholic drinks, VIP bathrooms and a dedicated indoor and outdoor dining space, plus televisions throughout. The ULTRA Zone is located at the 9th tee box and boasts expansive ocean and course views. Seating at both areas is on a first-come, first serve basis.

Food, drinks and fan experiences

At Servpro Fan Village, located behind the 15th green, fans can toast to the tournament with a beer from the Michelob ULTRA 2.0 Build-a-Bar, or a cocktail from TendedBar, the first automated, self-pour beverage station of its kind to be used at a PGA tour stop. At StretchLab Grove, located between the 7th and 18th fairways, find plenty of lawn seating, picnic benches and ocean views. Grab a vodka drink from the Tito’s Stillhouse Lounge, or sip on tequila from the Maestro Dobel Tequila Lounge. Local craft brews from the 10 Barrel Mini Pub are also available.

At Vantage Point, fans can practice their swing at the putting green or snag an autograph from a golf hero at the autograph area. There’s also a gift shop for all your Farmers Insurance Open merch needs.

Parking, ride-sharing, etc.

While parking is offered onsite for $40 to $50, there’s also parking available at the nearby Del Mar Racetrack for $30, with shuttle service offered. Of course, ride-sharing is always encouraged, with special drop-off and pick-up points at the Torrey Pines Gliderport entrance. Bicycle parking is free.
