On January 20, the latest Battlefield patch will launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC platforms.

Since it was first released, Battlefield 2042 has seen some changes, but fans are still waiting for some major changes.

Dice has announced that there is plenty in the pipeline, with this week’s update focusing on making changes to how XP works and removing issues with key gameplay mechanics.

The big news is that Dice is increasing the XP per minute limit for all Battlefield Portal modes to 300 and also changing the mission progression system, telling fans on Twitter today:

“Acquiring XP usually comes in bursts, and our intention with this change is to reduce the frequency of XP bursts that get throttled during gameplay.

“We’re also changing how you progress skill and weekly missions between created experience types.

“What you can earn in each experience is now determined by which modifiers you use and whether the Rules Editor, Damage/Health modifiers, or AI are enabled.”

Dice also commented on the bug fixes and leaderboard changes that gamers can expect to see this week and in the future, adding:

“Scheduled to go live tomorrow, this update delivers a handful of minor fixes and improvements to the game focused on stability.

“You will find solutions to hit registration issues related to Sundance and in-vehicle passenger weapons. We are also fixing several Soldier gameplay issues, such as rubber bands when running after friendlies or being stuck in a knocked-down and alive loop.

“This update is part of our ongoing commitment to address your feedback regarding bug fixes and gameplay improvements. Currently scheduled for February, we will follow up with another update focused on quality of life improvements. This also includes improvements to the scoreboard.”

Those improvements include UI changes that will be added to the game as part of Update 3.3, which launches next month.

The revamped leaderboard will feature a new panel showing how players stack up on the server, followed by further tweaks later in 2022.

All other patch notes scheduled for this week’s update can be found below and include the following changes:
