St. Paul Lutheran to sell Valentine cookies

OAK HARBOR — St. Paul Lutheran Church, 9789 W. Oak Harbor Road SE, will sell frosted heart-shaped Valentine sugar cookies as well as chocolate chip cookies.

The heart-shaped cookies will be made using the same recipe as the apple shaped cookies sold at the Oak Harbor Apple Festival. Cookies need to be pre-ordered, and orders will be accepted through  Feb. 4.

Orders can be placed by calling Jodi Regal at 419-276-9124 or made at the to the church. Include name, contact information and number of dozen cookies wanted. Cost is $7 per dozen for the Valentine cookies and $6 per dozen for the chocolate chip. Cookies will be available for pick up 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 12 at the church. Proceeds will be used to support youth programs.

Clyde council cancels work session

CLYDE — The Clyde City Council canceled its work session slated for Jan. 25. The next regular session will be Feb. 1 at the municipal building, 222 N. Main St.

Schwochow promoted to OSP commander at Bowling Green Post

COLUMBUS — On Jan. 16, Sergeant Jordan L. Schwochow of the Ohio State Highway Patrol was promoted to the rank of lieutenant by Colonel Richard S. Fambro, Patrol superintendent.

Schwochow will transfer from his current assignment at the Fremont Post to serve as commander at the Bowling Green Post.

Schwochow began his Patrol career in June 2005 as a member of the 145th Academy Class. He earned his commission in January 2006 and was assigned to the Bowling Green Post. As a trooper, he also served at the Marysville and Fremont posts. In 2014, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and transferred to the Bowling Green Post to serve as an assistant post commander.

Schwochow earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in criminal justice from Terra State Community College in 2021.

OHHS offering elementary art classes

OAK HARBOR — The Oak Harbor High School Art Department is sponsoring another round of Elementary Art Classes beginning in February.

Students in grades one-four are able to sign up for four weeks of art classes, which will include Clay, Acrylic Painting, Glazing, Drawing and Watercolor Painting. 

Art classes will take place in the high school art room, Room 609, 5-6 p.m. Tuesdays Feb. 1-22. Masks are required. The cost is $30 per student. For more information or to make reservations, email egilbert@bcssd.com. Spaces are limited.
