Licence fee impact on future series of Strictly?

Apologies for putting a slightly political discussion on here but all of the talk over the last couple of days surrounding the licence fee makes me wonder what it means for Strictly going forward.

I doubt we'll see anything changing this year or the year after nor do I think the show gets cancelled but do we see some changes eventually such as adverts? Or even to another channel? Maybe a lower budget show and/or less celebs? Food for thought.

Little change, if any. Massively popular and the format is popular internationally as well. A bit like Top Gear, some of it is funded through the sale of the format overseas.

Well Top Gear moved to Amazon, so probably something similar for Strictly

No, Top Gear is still on the BBC.

Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson was suspended and then fired from the show after hitting a BBC employee, and thus he & his fellow presenters began a new show with Amazon Prime Video.

Strictly won’t be going anywhere as long as it continues to pull in the viewers. The format has been sold to so many countries and continues to be popular worldwide - it’s a big success story for the BBC.

I fear it'll be broken up every 5 minutes by commercials, but I'm sure it'll still be there.

Imagine if Strictly was sponsored by Disney, just what would that look.... oh wait a sec?

Too right, it'll only move if Claudia or Tess start biffing the producers

If there are blanket 5% cuts across the board then I fear for Claudia's fringe.

Noooooo! This would break my heart 😩 I once watched a drama on ITV … ‘My Boy Jack’ .. and one minute I was in the trenches with Jack and the next I was in Carpet Right! 😩😫😖

I would prefer it if the BBC just streamed solely on iPlayer … and charged a subscription for it .. to viewers both home and abroad. It’s been suggested that if they charged overseas viewers to use iPlayer they could gain the revenue that they are in danger of losing and be truly independent.
It’s another one of those cases of not knowing what you’ve got till it’s gone. But, with most of the tabloid media/govt sticking the boot in and being negative about it, I think it’s days .. in its current format .. are sadly numbered.

Without wishing to get into a separate discussion, once you introduce any element of subscription the BBC's loses its prime status and purpose which is to be universally available. That is the big question and decision for any change. As for Strictly I suspect no change at all in the short term, there are still six years to go-and no guarantee that the licence fee will actually end at the suggested time either. The announcement was made without any kind of plan as to the eventual outcome and there will be much discussion and maybe even a change of government by the time 2027 comes around. Nothing is for certain currently.

Subscription or even part subscription is a non-starter. Strictly kind of highlights why - as it's flagship entertainment show viewerscwould expect it to be available for free - but as it's most premium entertainment show it's exactly the sort of show you'd expect as part of your subscription.

When I say subscription … I mean to replace the licence fee, if and when it ends, not in addition to. I would happily pay it and would much prefer it to adverts etc. I rarely watch any other TV station. But, it perhaps could provide iPlayer access to overseas viewers for a fee … think that might provide valuable additional revenue.

Nah, if Claudia or Tess start biffing producers than expect them both to move to Netflix with a brand new celebrity dancing competition with a gigantic budget, while the BBC puts together a new, totally bizarre Strictly presenting team that everyone complains about, and that the tabloids report totally hate each other.
