Former Wonder Girls Sunye Apologizes to Sunmi During Emotional Talk on 'Mom Is An Idol'

Sunmi Reveals Former Wonder Girls Sunye Was Like a Mother-Figure

Recently, "Gashina" hitmaker and former Wonder Girls member Sunmi made a guest appearance on the January 20 broadcast of tvN's reality program "Mom Is An Idol," which features six former idols who gave up their idol life to become mothers.

On this episode, Sunmi made a guest appearance to practice for a collaborative performance with "Mom Is An Idol" contestant and fellow former Wonder Girls member Sunye.

Before beginning their practice session, the two sat down with each other to have a chat and talk about their past.

At this time, Sunmi said, "You have always been like a mother to me. You used to cook food for me a lot when we were still trainees. I still remember that."

Sunmi continued to reminisce, asking if Sunye remembers the day Sunmi went to Canada for a concert tour by herself. "You had brought so much stuff with you back then. After the concert, I went back to my room at the hotel and unpacked the things that you gave me," Sunmi added.

Sunmi then talked about how Sunye had made her kimchi fried rice and other Korean food. Despite the food being cold, Sunmi complimented the food, saying it tasted amazing.

"I could not stop crying for some reason. I just felt really grateful, and it also brought back some memories from the past," Sunmi said.

Sunye Apologizes for Not Being There for Sunmi During Her Difficult Times

Hearing this, Sunye said, "I know you went through some difficulties, but I am so glad that you had succeeded as a soloist after all of that. I want to honestly thank you for that. I can see how hard you have worked to succeed for your family."

As she continues to speak, Sunye tears up and confesses she feels guilty for not being there for Sunmi. "I am upset because I couldn't physically be there for you during that process. I have always felt guilty about that," Sunye revealed.

Sunmi went on to comfort her, and said that they grew up in a similar sort of environment, that's why she cares about Sunye more than others.

Sunye also said it's the same for her, saying, "Yeah, it is the same for me. That is why I care about you more than the others as well. Thank you for knowing how I feel about you. I believe in you. I believe that you will continue doing well, Sunmi."

Meanwhile, Sunye officially left Wonder Girls back in 2015, and has since then lived in Canada with her family.
