Catalyst Quartet & Dashon Burton Headline Third Performance of San Francisco Performances’ ‘Uncovered Series’

By Logan Martell

On Feb. 11, 2022, San Francisco Performances will present the third performance in its “Uncovered Series,” featuring Catalyst Quartet and Dashon Burton.

The series seeks to explore music from composers who have mostly gone overlooked due to their race or gender. Currently the Vocal Artist-in-Residence with SF Performances, Burton will also provide commentary on the event in addition to singing.

The program will be comprised of works by Chevalier de. St. Georges, William Grant Still, and Florence Price. The quartet is made up of violinists Karla Donehew and Abi Fayette, violist Paul Laraia, and cellist Karlos Rodriguez.

“Like the first two performances of the Uncovered Series this season, this February 11 program is created from a place of passion and fills a void in the chamber music repertory,” SFP President Melanie Smith, said in an official statement. “I am extremely proud that SFP is presenting this bold and compelling series, and is the first to do so in its entirety in the US.”
