UPDATE (JAN. 21): The Kern County Coroner's Office has identified the motorcyclist killed on Roberts Lane as 48-year-old Jack Phillip Singleton II of Bakersfield.

A motorcyclist is dead after a crash on Roberts Lane and Sequoia Drive in Oildale Thursday night.

According to CHP, officers were called at around 7:23 p.m. to Roberts Lane and Sequoia Drive for a report of a crash between a SUV and a motorcycle.

When officers arrived, they found the motorcyclist on the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation found that the motorcyclist failed to stop at a red light and collided with the SUV, on the opposite lane, that was turning at the intersection on a green light.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.
