Maximum Games Acquires Them’s Fightin’ Herds Developer Mane6, Teases Upcoming Additions to the Game

Video games publisher Maximum Games today announced the acquisition of Mane6, the development studio behind Them’s Fightin’ Herds®, a 2D fighting game featuring a cast of adorable animals designed by acclaimed cartoon producer Lauren Faust. Maximum Games was recently acquired by Swedish gaming group Zordix AB (Zordix) in November 2021, and controls development team Modus Studios. With today’s acquisition, Mane6 will join Modus Studios and will continue to work on further improvements to the game.

Them’s Fightin’ Herds, currently available on Steam, is a four-button, 2D fighting game set in an original universe created by Lauren Faust (producer and developer for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic; creator, director, and developer for Super Best Friends Forever). The game, which has become a favorite at fighting game tournaments such as EVO and Combo Breaker, also features a single-player story mode that allows players to explore and battle across the mysterious lands of Fœnum alongside a heroic cast of all-female, hooved animals that have become threatened by the return of carnivorous beasts known as The Predators.

“Today we are celebrating our new partnership with Modus Games and look forward to [continuing] our work on Them’s Fightin’ Herds. It’s been a true labor of love and we’ve now found a home with the talented team at Modus and Modus Studios,” said Aaron Stavely, president of Mane6.

Added Christina Seelye, CEO of Maximum Games and Modus Games, “Our entire team is incredibly excited to welcome Mane6 to the family and we can’t wait to show fans more of what we’ve been working on in the coming months.”

Them’s Fightin’ Herds® will continue to receive new updates, features and enhancements, and more news will be shared later this year. For additional details on Them’s Fightin’ Herds®, check out the game on Steam.
