A co-worker of the man trapped under this collapsed roof communicates with the victim Thursday, Jan 20, as rescuers work to stabilize and secure the 20-foot by 20-foot roof pinning him down under hundreds of pounds of debris. Marvin heard the noise when he was throwing out the last of the wooden panels he and his coworker removed from the side of a waterfront cabana in a Crystal River-area home’s backyard.

“I just happened to come and dump the last piece ... and I heard kaboom,” said Marvin, who provided just his first name. “I make a noise when I toss that in the dumpster, but then I hear a louder kaboom.”
