Hoyas Host Creighton and Providence at McDonough Arena

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will return home to McDonough Arena this weekend as the squad will host the Creighton University Bluejays on Friday and the Providence College Friars on Sunday. Friday's tip is set for 7 p.m., while Sunday is slated to begin at 2 p.m.

  • The BIG EAST Conference has announced an agreement with leading sports streaming service FloSports to become the home of the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by SoFi for the 2021-22 academic year. About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (6-6, 1-3 BIG EAST) is coming off of a one-month break from home including time off for final exams, the holidays as well as COVID issues among the team and opponents. Last weekend, the squad returned to the hardwood with a pair of BIG EAST road contests.
  • On Sunday, Georgetown dropped a 102-69 decision to the DePaul University Blue Demons at Wintrust Arena.
  • Graduate student Milan Bolden-Morris led the way with 17 points for the Hoyas, including five 3-pointers.
  • Sophomore Kelsey Ransom added 13 points, and sophomore Yasmin Ott rounded out those in double figures with 11.
  • Freshman Kaliyah Myricks pulled down seven rebounds in her first-career start.
  • The Hoyas shot 39.1 percent (27-69) from the field and allowed 51.4 percent (38-74) shooting by the Blue Demons.
  • Georgetown outrebounded DePaul 40-39, and the GU defense forced 13 Blue Demon turnovers.
  • The Hoyas boast two players in double figures for the season as Bolden-Morris leads the way with 12.8 ppg. Ransom has 11.4 ppg, while senior Jillian Archer and junior Graceann Bennett round out the top four averaging 9.0 and 7.9 ppg, respectively.

  • The Hoyas' last game at McDonough Arena was its final nonconference game of the season on December 13, when the Blue & Gray downed Coppin State 59-53.
About the Bluejays
  • Creighton is 13-4 on the season and 8-1 in BIG EAST Conference play.
  • The Bluejays are coming off of a big 95-44 victory at Butler on Wednesday evening at historic Hinkle Field House as the start of a three-game road swing.
  • Leading the way for Creighton is Emma Ronsiek with 14.8 ppg to go along with a team-best 4.7 rpg.
  • She is followed by Morgan Maly and Lauren Jensen boasting 11.7 and 11.1 ppg, respectively.

  • The Hoyas are 4-14 all-time against the Bluejays and 3-5 at home.

  • The Friars will face Villanova in a matchup on Friday evening on the road.

All Georgetown women's basketball home matches are currently scheduled to be played at McDonough Arena. All Georgetown University indoor on-campus intercollegiate athletics events will be played with no fans in attendance for the month of January due to the emergence and rapid spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the Washington, D.C., region, across the country, and globally.
